Points of Interest

Landmarks worth steering toward on every Newport Harbor cruise.

Balboa Pavilion

A 1906 architectural landmark on the Balboa Peninsula — the historic heart of Newport Harbor. Iconic from the water and a perfect orientation point for first-time captains.

Balboa Island

Circle the island for a classic Newport loop. Watch for the Balboa Island Ferry crossings and the famous waterfront cottages and Marine Avenue boardwalk.

Lido Isle

Quiet residential island ringed by yacht-club docks. Cruise the channel between Lido and Bay Island for some of the harbor's prettiest sightlines.

Newport Harbor Yacht Club

One of the West Coast's oldest yacht clubs — a great visual marker on the main turning basin.

Fun Zone & Ferris Wheel

Easily spotted from the water; a fun photo backdrop and a useful navigational landmark near the ferry crossing.

Newport Harbor Entrance Jetty

Marks the harbor mouth. Stay inside the bay on a Lido Amore — open ocean is reserved for licensed offshore vessels.

Dock & Dine

Tie up, eat well, push off. Call ahead — most waterfront restaurants reserve their guest docks on a first-come basis.

The Cannery

Sushi and seafood with guest dock access on the Rhine Channel.

Bluewater Grill

Wood-grilled seafood, dockside seating, easy approach near the Lido Bridge.

Sol Mexican Cocina

Beachy Mexican on Lido Marina Village's promenade — tie up at the visitor docks.

Lido Bottle Works

Casual gastropub right on the Lido waterfront with short-term guest tie-ups.

The Winery Restaurant

Upscale Italian-Cal cuisine with reservable dock space.

Harborside Restaurant (Balboa Pavilion)

Right on the Pavilion — order ahead and pull up for a quick dockside pickup.

Navigation Tips

Friendly captain's notes for your day on the harbor.

01

Stay inside the bay

Our gas-powered Lido Amore boats are licensed for harbor cruising only. The harbor entrance jetty is your turnaround — do not exit into open ocean.

02

Mind the 5 MPH no-wake zones

Most of Newport Harbor is a posted 5 MPH zone. Idle past moored boats, ferries, kayakers, and paddleboarders — wake damage carries fines.

03

Yield to the Balboa Island Ferry

The ferry has the right of way across its short crossing. Slow early, hold your line, and let it pass before continuing.

04

Right-of-way at a glance

Power gives way to sail. When meeting another power boat head-on, pass port-to-port (each boat alters course to starboard). Slower vessel ahead gets the right of way.

05

Watch the wind in the afternoon

Newport's afternoon onshore breeze can build to 15+ kts. Plan your loop so you finish downwind toward the dock, not fighting upwind.

06

Fuel and battery

Your boat is topped off before launch. If you've cruised aggressively, head back with at least a quarter tank to keep your return relaxed.

Ready to put the guide to use? Reserve a Lido Amore and we'll have your boat fueled, briefed, and waiting at the dock.
